Speakers
Jeff Harris is an accomplished executive leader with extensive experience in commercial real estate, construction, project management, and aviation with over 17 years of experience leading highly effective teams, managing global real estate portfolios, executing operations, and completing large-scale construction projects. As the Vice President of Commercial Real Estate for University of Calgary Properties Group, Jeff is responsible for leading the execution of the commercial real estate program for the award-winning community of University District and University Innovation Quarter. He oversees the retail, office, land development, design, construction, operations, leasing, property management and marketing to drive sustainable growth and maximize economic impact. Prior to joining UCPG, Jeff worked at WestJet for nearly 14 years. During that time, he spearheaded the Real Estate and Airport Affairs team where he developed and executed a global real estate strategy while managing a portfolio of nearly 3 million sq. ft. spanning over 100 cities.
Yvonne Choe is a registered architect and partner at DIALOG, a North American architecture and engineering firm founded over 65 years ago in Calgary. With 20 years of experience, Yvonne has successfully navigated various design and development sectors, bringing a versatile and adaptable approach to each project. She has a passion for systems thinking and a relentless curiosity that drives her creative process. She leads the DIALOG national science and technology community of practice, building a team of people focused on shaping environments that support exploration, innovation and learning.
Yvonne’s commitment to excellence is reflected in her extensive project experience, where she consistently demonstrates a keen ability to execute and manage complex projects. Her leadership style is characterized by a collaborative approach which values the input of diverse perspectives to distill complex concepts and ideas into tangible built forms. Yvonne’s focus on execution ensures that her designs not only push the boundaries of innovation but also translate seamlessly into functional and impactful spaces.
Dr. Lin Tang is the Business Development Manager overseeing the health and life sciences portfolio at Calgary Economic Development. Lin is passionate about growing the life sciences ecosystem, attracting investment and companies to Calgary, and supporting Calgary companies’ growth and expansion. Lin has extensive experience in research & development, startup creation, technology commercialization, business development, stakeholder relations, academic-industry partnerships, intellectual property management & licensing, and talent training. Before joining CED, Lin was the co-founder and CEO of AnthoBio, a startup that develops plant-derived neuroprotective compounds as therapeutics for people living with multiple sclerosis. Lin holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology from the University of Calgary.
